FLYING TO CHIHUAHUA
- Aeropuerto Internacional de Chihuahua General Roberto Fierro Villalobos (CUU) is the only commercial airport serving Chihuahua.
- Before landing in Mexico, flight attendants will ask you to complete a physical customs declaration form. Keep this form handy after you land, as you will need it to exit the airport.
- When you arrive, you will go through passport control before picking up any checked luggage.
- Pick up any checked luggage after clearing passport control. Keep your checked luggage receipts handy, as airport staff will verify your checked bag tag matches your receipt.
- Proceed to customs and give the officer the form you completed on the plane. Please note that customs officers will open and physically search all luggage before allowing you to proceed to the terminal.
- Rideshare drivers are not allowed to pick up passengers arriving at CUU. It is recommended that you order a taxi at the counter inside the terminal, or reserve private transfer services like Blacklane in advance. If taking a taxi, share your destination with the agent at the taxi counter, pay the fare, and then give the ticket to the next available taxi outside the terminal.
IN THE CITY
- Uber is the easiest and least expensive way to get around Chihuahua. Be advised that wait times can be a bit longer than in bigger cities. Lyft is not currently available in Mexico.
- Many businesses in Chihuahua accept credit cards, but it is recommended to carry some pesos in cash, especially for tipping. There are multiple ATMs that dispense pesos near the hotels in District 1, or you can order pesos at your bank in the USA for a more favorable exchange rate.
- It is important that you only drink bottled or filtered water in Chihuahua. Water and ice at restaurants are safe to consume and are not served from the tap, as all food operations are required to use bottled or commercially filtered water.
- Chihuahua has a desert climate. It is dry and can be very hot during the day and cool at night. Be sure to stay hydrated and use sunscreen if you are prone to sunburn. Bring a jacket or other warmer layer for nighttime activities.
